Imagine If…

Today we know that the world is divided into the one percent and the 99 percent. While most people are struggling to survive, a small portion of the population is living in luxury. It doesn’t have to be this way. The problem today is one of maximizing our possibilities. Imagine if the 99 percent reorganized the society in our collective interests. Imagine if we created a more equitable world.

Imagine if…

Everyone had food. The science and technology of today has developed a productive capacity greater than ever before. We could easily feed everyone. A U.N. study showed that there is enough food in the world to provide everyone on the planet with 2,720 kilocalories per day. What if we decided it was society’s priority to make sure everyone has a healthy meal when they need it?

Imagine if…

There were no wars. Wars are fought in the interest of elites. They are waged over resources or political power. If we lived in an equitable world, why would we kill people in other parts of the world? What would we have to gain? Instead we could learn from each other, share and trade according to global needs, not political and economic gain.

Imagine if…

Education was a natural part of life. We all have many interests: sports, reading, acting, science, and art. What if we all had the ability to do what we loved for the rest of our lives? We wouldn’t have to worry about paying for college, or struggling to find the time to pursue our interests. This society has the resources to provide free education for all, and everyone would be better off for it.

Imagine if…

Healthcare was a right for all. What if the health care technology available today were open to the public? How healthy would we all be if we had decent food and the ability to meet with healthcare providers and receive treatments without cost?

Imagine if…

We were no longer divided by race, gender, sexual orientation or nationality. How much richer would our lives be if we were able to connect and understand each other without prejudice? How much more potential would we have if we weren’t limited by racism, sexism, or homophobia?

Imagine if…

The majority controlled society. It would be very different if there were no secrecy, if we could recall our leaders as soon as they did something the majority disagreed with. We could decide to end environmental destruction and needless wars.

Imagine if…

We decided to make this world a reality. For each of us this is the question – will we agree to a world of unnecessary hunger, disease, war and poverty, or will we fight for a better future? A few people can have a big impact. If we don’t act, we know that things will only get worse. If we do act, a different world is possible.
